Welcome to Hedgehog Class.
The Early Years team are Mrs Grover, Miss Ace and Miss Crafer.
Welcome back to our new term. It is great to see all the children settling in so well and we extend a really warm welcome to our new children.
This half term we are really enjoying our ‘How will I train the Dragon?’ theme which is closely linked to the early summer celebrations of St Georges Day and May Fairs. We are also thinking about castle stories and Knights and Princesses which will tie in nicely with the up and coming Royal Wedding.
‘How will I plant the Castle Garden?’ and related stories will be coming up shortly.
Just before half term we are looking forward to a trip to Lackford Lakes where we will extend our learning to include plants, mini beasts and the natural environment.
Building on this after half term our topic will be ‘What can I find on my summer expedition?’ which will coincide nicely with the children’s holiday plans including zoos, seaside and travel agents etc. We will aim to include mini beasts, jungle animals/wildlife, camping and maps. We will look at lifecycles of living things.
We will be using stories to extend the children’s learning in all areas of development within the foundation stage.
It promises to be a great term! Thank you for your continued support with your child’s learning and development and your great response as ever to our home tasks .It is all very much appreciated.
We will be asking you to continue to bring in your child’s ‘Wow’ moments on sheets that we will provide documenting your child’s special moments at home and in the wider environment e.g. ballet/swimming/phonics etc. Extra sheets will be available on the table in the mornings please take these as you need them and add a name and date. Completed ones will be added to the ‘Wow Moments’ board in the shared area with your child’s photograph on and then to your child’s Learning Journey at the end of each half-term to help build a broad picture of their achievements. We really value parent’s input.
P.E. will be on Wednesday mornings so please ensure the children have their clearly named PE kits in school from the beginning of the week and that any earrings etc are removed on PE days. Thank you very much for your help with this. Dressing and changing independently is a learning goal in Early Years so please encourage your child to move towards developing this skill as quickly as they are able. It’s a great challenge to set them!
Learning Challenge related Home tasks will be sent home on Fridays and you will have the following week to enjoy completing them together.
Please feel free to catch us for a chat if you have any worries or want to talk to us about your child.
